Phil Manfredo is a New Jersey-based IT professional who most recently served as a network engineer at Verizon Wireless, where he provided Level 2 network support to customers and resolved issues relating to network connectivity. Outside of his professional pursuits, Phil Manfredo is a fan of the National Hockey League's (NHL) New Jersey Devils.

The Devils bolstered its offensive depth on July 29 by acquiring forward Nikita Gusev from the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for a third round pick in 2020 NHL Draft and second-round pick in the following year's draft. Gusev was subsequently signed to a two-year, $9 million contract.

A 27-year-old native of Russia, Gusev was originally selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the seventh round of the 2012 NHL Draft, but has yet to play a game in the league. Instead, he has spent the past 10 seasons in the KHL and has become one of the top players in the Russian league. Last year, Gusev led all players in assists (65) and points (82) and earned his fourth All-Star recognition. He joined the Golden Knights for the 2019 playoffs, but wasn't in the lineup for any of the team's games.
